Salerno: in the heart of the city

A city with ancient origins that looks wonderfully towards the future, between the scent of salt, that of the Mediterranean scrub and the appetizing aroma of the typical dishes: Salerno, a junction between the Amalfi Coast and the Cilento coast, is a popular destination and starting point for various and multifaceted itineraries, between the sea, places of art, parks and nature reserves, food and wine and historical itineraries.

Fascinating location, clinging to the mountain, between sky and sea, to be enjoyed in all its facets and a port to return to in the evening, after visiting the surroundings full of attractions and interesting attractions.

Salerno is ideal if you intend to have a holiday without a car, because the city is well served by railways - the railway station is also reached by the high speed - and efficient coach services. Of course, it is possible to arrive by sea, mooring in the tourist port (the Maritime Station in the shape of a shell near the commercial port), and directly from the sky, landing in the small airport of Pontecagnano (about 40 minutes).

The house is located in the center of Salerno, a few meters from the Cittadella Giudiziaria, an example of international architecture, signed by David Chipperfield.

The favorable central position allows you to comfortably experience the city, alternating relaxation and fun.

From the house, in fact, you can easily reach the main places of interest in the city: the center of the new nineteenth-century city, with the beautiful Trieste waterfront, a characteristic commercial street full of shops and clubs, and the suggestive historical center, in the upper part, between medieval alleys and eighteenth-century streets, stately buildings, churches and bell towers.

If you love green spaces or practice outdoor sports, the city also meets this need, with several city parks, such as the Parco del Mercatello (10 hectares in size, which houses a greenhouse and rock garden), and the Parco delle Terme Campione, ideal for romantic walks, with your head in the clouds or "among fairy tales", as the bronze statue of Pinocchio and the ceramics narrating the story of the Collodi puppet, which animate these spaces.

And for lovers of medicinal plants, a visit to the Giardino della Minerva, the original botanical garden of the Medical School of Salerno, and the tasting of a fragrant herbal tea or a decoction in the municipal herbal tea garden, managed by the Nemus Cultural Association.

After regenerating the limbs, you can delight the palate in the typical restaurants, which offer the recipes of the aromatic Mediterranean cuisine, and end the evening walking along the enchanting promenade.

The next day you can enjoy the beauties and the many activities of the city or go on excursions to discover the most suggestive coasts of Italy: the sparkling Amalfi Coast and the uncontaminated Cilento Coast.
